This time the choice fell on the professional Metabo model 6.00668.00 and on the purely hobbyist model Scheppach HS105.

Metabo TS254 saw table

After talking about my Makita MLT100 , in this review we report our impressions following a test carried out on the Metabo TS254 saw table .

The first impression we got was that we had a compact and well-designed machine in our hands .

The trolley function makes it ideal not only for the professional who needs a light and easily transportable machine on site but also for the large group of DIY enthusiasts who aspire to reserve an important place in their laboratory.

In the Metabo TS254 saw table,  the robustness of the materials used stands out , such as the die-cast aluminum used for the integrated base which ensures a secure support and the sturdy tubular frame of the structure capable of withstanding the heavy use typical of construction sites.

The solution of containing the power cable and all the accessories inside the machine body is useful, which makes transport operations quicker and safer.

The technical characteristics

Among the most important features the motor certainly stands out which, thanks to the power of 2000W and the high torque that it can generate, guarantees a fluid and powerful movement to all the mechanics.

An electronic protection circuit is present to safeguard its integrity from overloads.

As far as safety is concerned, I highlighted the lockout protection which prevents the automatic restarting of the engine after a power failure and the stopping of the blade in less than 3 seconds thanks to the electronic engine brake.

Thanks to the use of soft-start technology, instead of making the motor reach the nominal number of revolutions in a few seconds, this time is extended by creating an efficient feeding ramp.
In this way, the engine it does not subject it and the transmission gears to stress, increasing their longevity.

The details that make the difference

The Metabo TS254 saw table  hasguide with quick fixing and double locking which is essential for making precise parallel cuts.

No special tools are required to use the dividing knife and therefore it can be lowered easily for grooved cuts and during transport.

Scheppach HS105 saw table

The Scheppach HS105 saw table is one of the top models in its class and represents a suitable solution for the novice hobbyist.

The worktop, comprising a table measuring 640mm x 640mm, can be expanded up to 920mm through a sliding guide that also acts as a handle to be pulled easily thanks to the lateral grooves that appear to be reasonably perpendicular to the blade.

The guides , made of excellent aluminum, slide easily and settings are facilitated by a millimeter line.

The guide block-protractor slides without delay and has good precision even in angled cuts.

The dividing knife is quite essential and thanks to a knob on the back it allows you to adjust the tension of the mechanism which, once locked, prevents any movement to guarantee the operator’s safety even for shallow or angular cuts.

The blade is 255mm 30mm.

Someone can quickly remove the plastic blade guard through an “L” slot in the upper part of the knife.

A handwheel on the front of the machine allows the height change of the blade which can produce deep cuts up to 80mm at 90 ° and 50mm at 45 °.

Always with the same handwheel, by acting on a release lever, you act on the inclination of the blade to make oblique cuts.
In both functions, the handwheel responds without play.

The quality of the cut appeared to us to be more than acceptable even on particularly hard materials.

I power the brush motor at 230V and offer a power of 2000W.

Beyond the features of this saw table

I achieved starting and locking through the use of two electrical switches placed on the front of the chassis.

We would also have preferred a mushroom stop to be activated with the knee in case of emergency.
